Information About the Band

Formed in 2003 in the suburbs of Tokyo, Japan, girugämesh began playing gigs with their current lineup in 2004, until they were signed to record label Gaina-Japan. Their first major single, Kaisen Sengen was ranked #10 on the Oricon Indies chart.

In 2005, girugämesh embarked on a nation-wide tour, after which they released their first live DVD, featuring footage from the tour, and after more touring, released an EP, Goku - Shohankei Enban.

In 2007, girugämesh was signed to the European label Gan-Shin, making them one of the select Japanese rock groups to be distributed outside of Japan. The band then was part of a 9-band Japanese rock festival in Los Angeles, California called "J-Rock Revolution". They were part of the second night alongside Merry, D'espairsRay, and Mucc. Around the time of J-Rock Revolution, many of the bands released material on iTunes, including girugämesh, making them one of the few Japanese rock artists to be available on the popular music store.

On July 18, they are scheduled to release a new mini-album entitled Reason of Crying.

May be the most interesting band of this new era of j-rock, they are descendants of Dir En Grey, probably they will take a crown of kings and they willl surprise us in the future as DIRu and X did before. They have take a correct directions, I hope popularity will not spoil them and on a turn will give them a new energy for a new excellent music.

Their last album is really nice, if there is anyone who didn't listen it before you can dowload it here:

Girugamesh announces new album details for “GO”

Rock band Girugamesh teased their fans several months back with info that they’d be releasing a new album. They’ve finally followed up on their previous announcement with additional details!

The new album will be titled “GO“, and should become available for January 26th, approximately a year after the release of their last album, “NOW”. As always, it will be available in two versions, a 2CD + DVD “Intense Passion edition”, as well as a regular CD edition. “GO” will contain the singles “Inochinoki” and “COLOR“, in addition to nine other tracks. The regular CD edition will also contain the new track, “Calling”.

The “Intense Passion” edition will contain a second CD full of recordings from their “FALL TOUR 2010“ Yokohama Bay Hall performance. The accompanying DVD will contain footage from the fall tour as well in the form of a documentary, and will also include the PVs for “Inochinoki” and “COLOR.”

This new release will supplement their global tour, which is slated for March next year. “GO” is also planned for overseas distribution in Europe through GAN-SHIN RECORDS for February 4th, and will include the second live disc.
